Visualising sound waves with an oscilloscope
This procedure demonstrates how to use a signal generator in conjunction with a loudspeaker and an oscilloscope to show a representation of a soundwave. Varying the amplitude and frequency on the signal generator will change the shape of the waveform, allowing students to learn about such terms as: amplitude, frequency (pitch) and wavelength.
