Main Duties:
- Assisting with the preparation and set-up of equipment and materials used for teaching, including the cleaning of glassware and other equipment. This includes both the preparation of pupil material

- You need to be organised and methodical, enthusiastic and adaptable.
- Be able to work independently and also communicate effectively as part of a team.
- A flexible, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to supporting teaching staff and students.

Main Duties:
- Keep up to date with health & safety developments in practical science in co-ordination with Head of Science and the Estates Manager. Carry out risk assessments for tech activities.
- Work with the senior technician to ensure the safe treatment & disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances, responding to actual or potential hazards in line with legislation.
- Ensure the resources are organised, developed and trialed to meet the performance standards required by the department.
- Ensure that equipment and materials are maintained to the required standards. Ensure that basic safety checks on equipment are carried out on a regular basis.
- Ensure that apparatus is set out, cleared away, kept in good order for practicals and demonstrations. Assist in class demos as necessary.
- Use computerised ordering system to ensure that resources are efficiently transferred to their point of use. Review and maintain stock, entering orders as appropriate.
- Work with teachers and programme leaders to prioritise equipment replacement/orders of new equipment.
- Provide professional guidance, assistance and support to students and teachers on the practical aspects of the curriculum as necessary. Attend department meetings as needed.
