Main Duties:
- Assisting and advising teaching staff on the preparation and layout in classrooms for practical exercises, running trials of experiments, demonstrations and helping students with learning activities

- 1 x 3 month, Full-time, Internship Placement for PhD students (35 hours per week).
- The UYSC has been delivering an incredible programme of inspiring and engaging science workshops to young people aged 7 to 18 since 2009.
- Workshops range from investigating acids and alkalis and making bath bombs with primary school children, to investigating your own DNA
- Your main role will be to assist with the delivery of these workshops, interacting with the young people who attend.
- Learn to present some of our science workshops to young people in the UYSC.
- Present a 10-minute talk of your PhD research to secondary schools attending the workshops
- Help prepare for each workshop with the rest of the UYSC team, setting up equipment and cleaning up.
- Research and develop science content for in-person events and for use online
- Ideal for anyone interested in science education, education outreach, working with young people, and science communication.
- We are looking for applicants who are enthusiastic to get involved with the team, flexible, open-minded, and keen to learn new skills.
- This opportunity is only open to PhD students who are eligible to undertake an internship as part of their studentship and receive a stipend from their Doctoral Training Programme (DTP).
- Intern will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS clearance and related checks as mandated by UK laws and regulations
- Please note that this internship is hosted fully onsite in the UYSC lab and cannot be worked remotely.
