PP156 - Comparing the diffusion of halogen gases and vapours
Diffusion is direct evidence of the particulate nature of matter. There are not many demonstrations or activities for the halogens, because the gases and vapours are toxic. However, using microscale techniques, students can investigate their properties without exceeding the workplace exposure limits, because diffusion takes place inside a Petri dish.
