This document is an updated version of Topic 16, which appeared in the 3rd edition of Topics in Safety (ASE, 2001)..It gives detailed guidance on the hazards encountered and control measures needed when extracting and manipulating DNA. The document includes a suggested code of practice for the use of human DNA in schools and colleges.
